Search a company director
Enter a company name or number to see all directors, their other companies, and risk signals flagged by our ML models.
What a director search reveals
A director does not exist in isolation. Their full appointment history tells you more about risk than any single company filing. Here is what a proper director search surfaces.
Current appointments
Every active company where this person serves as director, secretary, or PSC. Appointment dates and role type included.
Resigned appointments
Historical directorships they have left. Resignation timing matters: leaving days before liquidation is a pattern.
Dissolved companies
Companies that were dissolved while this director served or shortly after they resigned. One dissolution is normal. Six is a pattern.
Disqualification orders
Whether this person is currently disqualified or has ever been disqualified from acting as a company director.
Other companies in the network
Co-directors, shared addresses, and interlinked entities. The network tells you who this person works with and how those companies are performing.
Date of birth, nationality, and correspondence address
Month and year of birth (not full date), stated nationality, and the service address filed at Companies House.
Why a free Companies House search is not enough
Companies House shows raw appointments. It does not show patterns. You can see that a director has 12 companies, but you cannot see at a glance that 6 of them dissolved with unpaid creditors. Here are the patterns a basic search will miss.
Serial dissolutionA director who has had 6 companies dissolved in 4 years, each lasting 18 to 24 months before winding up.
Parallel companiesA director running 3 companies in the same SIC code and same postcode. Splitting revenue across shells to stay below thresholds.
Pre-liquidation exitA director who resigned 14 days before the company entered creditors' voluntary liquidation. This happens once by coincidence, not three times.

Red flags in a director's history
High-risk signals
- Dissolution rate above 40% across all appointments
- Currently or previously disqualified
- Multiple companies dissolved in the same SIC code
- Resigned from 3+ companies within 30 days of insolvency
- Phoenix pattern: new company replicating a dissolved predecessor
Warning signs
- Serial short-tenure companies (under 2 years each)
- Late filings across multiple active companies
- 10+ active directorships simultaneously
- All companies registered at the same virtual office
- Companies in same sector dissolving repeatedly
Who needs a director check
Supplier extending credit
Before you offer 30, 60, or 90 day terms to a new customer, check their directors. A director with 4 dissolved companies and outstanding CCJs is a credit risk regardless of what their company accounts say.
Employer running a pre-employment check
Hiring a senior executive or finance director? Check their company history. A candidate who omits three dissolved companies from their CV is hiding something.
Investor doing due diligence on founders
Before you invest, check the founders' full history. Serial failures in the same sector, resigned appointments timed before insolvency, or undisclosed directorships are material facts.
Creditor tracing a director after dissolution
Company dissolved with your money in it? Find the director's new company. If they are trading in the same sector with the same customers, that is a phoenix pattern and you have legal options.
The network effect: why one director check is never enough
A director does not operate in isolation. Their other companies, co-directors, and dissolved entities tell you more than any single company check ever could. Consider the picture:
- ·Director A runs Company X (the one you are dealing with)
- ·Director A also runs Companies Y and Z (both dissolved with unpaid debts)
- ·Director B (co-director on Company X) previously co-directed Company Y
- ·Company X shares a registered address with dissolved Company Z
None of these facts appear on any single Companies House page. You need network intelligence to connect them. That is what RecoupIQ does automatically, across every search.
