If we got something wrong
RecoupIQ surfaces signals derived from public regulatory sources (Companies House, HMRC's deliberate-defaulter register, the London Gazette, iXBRL accounts, the Insolvency Service register) cross-checked through our automated evidence checks. Every signal we publish traces to a named source, but pipelines drift, sources update, and matches mis-fire. When that happens we want to know. Accuracy is important because these outputs may inform commercial decisions, but they are not credit decisions or professional advice.
This page is the public route to ask us to fix it, whether the issue is about your company, about you as a named director, or about a fact stated elsewhere on the site.
1. About a UK Limited company
If a signal RecoupIQ surfaced about a UK Limited company (status, accounts overdue, HMRC defaulter cross-match against the company name, going-concern flag, etc.) is wrong, mismatched, or out of date, email contact@recoup-iq.tech with subject “Company correction request” and include:
- Companies House registered name and number.
- The specific signal you believe is wrong (a screenshot or URL helps).
- The corrected information plus a public source we can verify against.
- Your role at the company, we may need to confirm authority before acting.
We will acknowledge a company-level request and aim to respond within five working days. We will either correct the signal, explain why the source still supports it, or tell you what further evidence is needed. Material corrections are propagated through our publication and refresh process. This voluntary company-data process does not limit any legal right or remedy that may apply.
2. About you as a named director
If RecoupIQ has attached a signal to you personally (phoenix attribution, your history across companies, disqualification status, named appearance in a director-graph trace), that is your personal data and you have the right to request its correction under Article 16 of the UK General Data Protection Regulation. Email contact@recoup-iq.tech with subject “Personal data correction (Article 16)” and include:
- Your full name as it appears on the Companies House register.
- The Companies House numbers of the companies you are or were a director of.
- The specific signal RecoupIQ has attached to you that you believe is wrong.
- The corrected information and the public source we can verify against.
- A means by which we can confirm we're corresponding with you and not with someone purporting to be you (a copy of photo ID, or correspondence from a verified email associated with the company on the registered address, we'll tell you which on receipt).
We normally respond within one month for a personal-data request. Where the law permits an extension for a complex or numerous request, we will explain the reason and expected timing. If we correct the data, we will assess which recipients need to be notified under the applicable law.
3. If a wrong signal cost you a deal
If a RecoupIQ scan caused a third party to refuse credit or terminate a commercial relationship with your company on the basis of a signal we got wrong, tell us in the same email. We can provide an updated copy or correction statement where appropriate, but we cannot control a third party's decisions, records, or use of information. This process does not admit liability for a third party's decision or loss.
4. About content on the site
For corrections to anything else on the site, statistics, claims, case studies, regulatory references, use the same email with subject “Site correction”. We aim to verify and correct substantiated errors within five working days. Material corrections are dated in the page footer.
If you're not satisfied with our response
For personal-data complaints, you have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint. You also retain the rights to access (Article 15), erasure (Article 17), restriction (Article 18), and portability (Article 20) of your personal data. See our Privacy Policy for the full framework.
